Host Families

Become a Host Family, Help an International Student

The Nova Scotia International Student Program has launched "Bring Home the World" a campaign to bring more awareness about opportunities to host students to more families and communities across the province.

International Services is looking for warm and caring host families for International Students attending the Halifax Regional School Board schools.

Hosting a student is an exciting adventure that enriches your family’'s life and brings a world of new ideas and experiences right to your doorstep. Host Families are supported by a Homestay Coordinator and financial assistance is provided during the student’'s stay ($575.00 tax free per month).

We have a number of different programs that bring these students to our province including Project Korea, China Project, Nova Scotia International Student Program (NSISP) and Project Colombia. Some students stay for as little as one month and others stay for the school year.

Host families are required for students who are in Grades 2 to 12. We also have the opportunity to host teachers from different countries.
